Seven natural ways to reduce arthritis pain
As we grow older the chances are that we end up with joint pains and other symptoms of arthritis. If you have arthritis you probably have tried pain killers, heating pads, drugs such as Celebrex, and supplements such as glucosamine/chondoitin. Arthritis is caused partially by inflammation and anything you can do to lower inflammation will help lower your symptoms and keep you healthy for longer time.
Here are seven safe natural ways to lower your inflammation and reduce your arthritis pain:
- Eat grapes. Grape skin contains resveratrol, which reduces inflammation at sites of injury and pain caused by cox-2 (an enzyme). Eat one cup of grapes a day.
- Drink purple grape juice or red wine – both contain resveratrol. You need to do either eat grapes or drink red wine or grape juice (one glass a day) either is good for your heart as well.
- Drink tea – especially green tea which is full of polyphenols which reduce inflammation.
- Increase your vitamin C (500 to 1000 mg) and D (400 IUs).
- Eat ginger which is an excellent anti-inflammatory – you can add ginger to your food, make ginger tea, or even take ginger powder supplements.
- You can try willow bark and boswellia. Aspirin comes from willow bark and boswellia has been used for hundreds of years to reduce joint pains (take 240 mg of willow bark and 1000 mg of boswellia each day).
- Therapeutic Taping – you wrap a tape around a joint to realign, support, and take pressure off. You need to learn to do this from your physician or physical therapist.
Of course self hypnosis will reduce stress and pain under all circumstances and that includes reduction of arthritis pain. I did not mention it above since it is used for all pains.
