Positive attitude for better aging
Posted Under: aging
This is just about the only one my blogs that I have not mentioned that I’m going through the workbook of A Course in Miracles.
Today is day nineteen (I started the first day of November) and the thought for this day is I am not alone in experiencing the effects of my thoughts.
The first few days doing the workbook didn’t make much difference to my attitude but recently my attitude has changed way for the better. As I let go of small (and sometimes even large) upsets, life becomes so much better.
The vicissitudes of life happen no matter what we do or think.
At times a pipe breaks and there is a major or minor leak in your house (happened to me twice within forty five days recently neither caused by my condo but I suffered with no recourse)…
At times you are late and the traffic keeps getting worse and worse…
At other times – well this happened to me today – I updated a piece of software and did not realize that I was supposed to back up the database and lost about eight hours of work – much worse still a neighbor who is an active feisty eighty three years old lady upgraded to Windows 7 and her computer died on her - it cost her $400 to make the computer work again and recover her files…
As the Buddha said, “Life is suffering.”
Or in the American vernacular, “Sh… happens.”
So the question is how to deal with all the things that happen?
Have a positive attitude.
And the bigger question is how to have a positive attitude?
Accept whatever is – do not prejudge – the world is not against you – you are not the target. As I wrote in the previous post give yourself loving kindness and forgive yourself.
And most importantly smile, smile, smile…
