Drink more water and protect against colon cancer

Water is your body’s main chemical. On average 60 percent of your weight comes from the water content. Some of the water is obvious as in your blood other water is inside every cell of your body and some water is inside the molecules of your body. Every system in your body needs water for survival. Water carries nutrients to your cells and flushes the toxins out.

Lack of water can lead to dehydration , a condition that occurs when you don’t have enough water in your body to carry out normal functions. Some scientists think that basically most of us living in industrialized countries suffer from dehydration.

Most authorities believe we need about 8 to 12 glasses of water a day at a minimum. It is important to note that this is pure plain water and not tea, coffee, beer, and much worse still soda and sugared fruit juices. If you drink any caffeine or alcohol based drinks you need to drink more water as both these chemicals are diuretics that is to say they remove more water from you (you urinate more and end up being dehydrated).

I started writing this because I just read that research has shown that middle-aged women who drank more than five glasses of water a day developed colon cancer at half the rate of those who drank less than two glasses a day. According to my calculation both these groups are highly dehydrated so we are comparing bad with worse. However, the good news is that even making yourself slightly less dehydrated will improve your health by so much.
